Epic a30e elliptical

I have an epic a30e and it loads up saying "Start pedaling to begin" and won't go beyond this screen. I have changed the motor controller board. The motor (to adjust resistance) makes random noises every few seconds so I think might be the motor (although this has been going on for ages and might be normal). I have adjusted the reed switch.
